Squat 101: Master Your Form & Avoid Common Mistakes!
📌 Whether you’re a beginner or refining your technique, this guide has you covered!

Why Squats Matter
✅ Build lower-body strength & power
✅ Improve mobility & stability
✅ Transferable to real-life movements

Squat Setup
1️⃣ Feet Personal preferenace but a good starting point is shoulder-width apart, toes slightly out with tripod foot
2️⃣ Brace core—engage abs for stability by taking a big belly beath (imagine you are trying to break a belt
3️⃣ Bar Placement (for High bar squats)
💡 Good setup = Stronger, safer squat!

Squat Execution (How to Perform a Proper Squat)
🔹 Descend: Break at the knees and hips to sit into the deepest squat that your mobility allows.
🔹 Track: Knees in line with toes as you squat (not caving in)
🔹 Drive Up: Push through midfoot, maintaining a tight and neutral torso
📌 Control your movement—don’t rush!

Common Squat Mistakes & Fixes
❌ Knees Cave In → ✅ Reduce load, focus on control through slower tempo and screw your feet into the ground.
❌ Heels Lift Off → ✅ Ensure weight over mid-foot and consider a box to squat to.
❌ Leaning Too Far Forward → ✅ Strengthen upper back, ensure bar placement is correct and you have mid foot pressure, consider a heel wedge
❌ Shallow Depth → ✅ Work on hip & ankle mobility and ensure weight isn’t too heavy
❌ Hips Shoot Up And Back → Double check barbell position, reduce load and strengthen quads

Squat Variations
🔥 Try different squat types based on your ability and squatting experience
1️⃣ Air Squat – Great for beginners, warm-ups and conditioning drills
2️⃣ Goblet Squat – Helps reinforce good form and build foundational squat pattern and strength
3️⃣ Back Squat – Builds strength & power and provides ability to move more weight
4️⃣ Front Squat – Biases quads & core and transfers into weight lifting sports
5️⃣ Safety Bar Squat – A great way to move heavier loads without the mobility requirements of a front/back squat
📌 Take your time and don’t rush through the progressions before you have nailed the basics, built strength, stability and mobility in the squat pattern.
